I’m proud to present the 1st episode of Nā Wai i Teka? What’s special about this show is that everything is local, from the photography of Rawhitiroa Photography, to the production crew, to the kaikōrero, to the venue - Te Wā (locally owned and operated in Kaikohe), and of course - the reo. I hope soon we’ll be able to use this platform to promote local products and services at no cost for whānau. I understand that a full on te reo Māori show like this will get a limited audience. But while we regrow our fluency, I believe we need to keep speaking our home reo, or it will become just a memory. I believe, as do many of you who have messaged me who aren’t fluent, that even just hearing our reo can be healing. I hope you’ll join us each week, and make some new friends. Up close and intimate, in-depth, intelligent conversation, not to be taken too seriously! Our version of Dear Abby. Nā Wai i Teka? Homegrown from the heart of Ngāpuhi. Mihi nui ki a Te Mangai Paho, nana te putea tautoko.

Answering your questions, personal, profound, and a bit of pōhauhau.Quote of the year from Len Bristow: "Tēnei mea te mokopuna, pēnei i taku ngākau ka taka ki runga i te whorō, ka tupu waewae." A mokopuna is your heart falling on the floor and growing legs.Mena he whakaaro hoki ōu hei tāpiri mai ki ō ēnei, tuhia mai. Some of tonight's take:What to do about a son-in-law you don't like...Should we give our babies tupuna names...What if someone changes their mind about whāngai just before birth...*** Please pm any 'take' you'd like us to discuss in upcoming shows, to keep the momentum going.Homegrown from the heart of Ngāpuhi.Nā Te Māngai Pāho te pūtea tautoko.
